Memories of The Hill

Many thanks to Tom Hoffmann, who made most of these memories available, and to Evan Henderson of Kenyon, who unearthed the Commencement Address.

On June 1-3, 1962, the Class of 1962 received their degrees at the annual Commencement held on the lawn in front of Mather Hall. James K. Reston made the address. His title was “Commencement of What?”

When we look at all the new buildings on the campus now, we forget that 1958-62 was also a time of building at Kenyon. Mather Hall was rebuilt, Hanna and Leonard were renovated, and an addition was built on the Wertheimer Fieldhouse.

Renovation and Renewal

One of the milestones of our years on campus was the acquisition of Kenyon’s first bus, the Egghead Special.
