Jim Swaney

I hope everyone has a very happy weekend and wish I could have made it. Having dropped out early in my junior year I didn’t have many close relationships and after 50 years, I am not sure I would remember too many. I do remember playing soccer with John Knepper and hope you will give him my best. I also saw that David Hutzleman will be there so please do the same to him.

My life since Kenyon has been interesting if not professionally meritorious. After Kenyon I went into the Air Force to try and decide what my destiny was to be. I got to travel around the US and Europe and so had very interesting assignments. On discharge I took a position as a programmer trainee gradually working up to senior analyst working for Mass Mutual Life, Eastern Air Lines, Computer Usage Co. and finally Polaroid. I met my wife and shortly after our marriage we moved to Arizona. We adopted four children there and were also foster parents for some 40+ others. My career finally ended in 25 years selling mainly commercial insurance in Az. We retired in 2008 and moved to Texas where we currently reside one town over from one of our daughters. (When I married my wife, she already had 4 children). We are enjoying retirement although my wife has some health issues and are part of the reason we cannot attend the reunion.

That is my abbreviated summary of activity since Gambier and Kenyon. I hope you have had as fulfilling a life.

Best Wishes,

Jim Swaney ’62
